Blissful Visit to the "Hugging Saint's" M.A. Center in CA

Castro Valley, CA (San Ramon area) - Saturday The 21st of March 2009, a devotee, invited me to join her for an evening service of devotion. This center was named after Mata Amritanandamayi, lovingly called "Amma." Also known as "The Hugging Saint" Amma has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her worldwide compassionate humanitarian work.

Amma has been known to hug thousands of people in a single day: tirelessly offering them unconditional love and hope. Once or twice a year she visits from India to this center in San Ramon for a week or two. Her next visit is scheduled for June 2009.
The center is nestled in a valley surrounded by beautiful green rolling hills and even upon driving into this space I felt myself entering a new zone of timelessness.

After spending several hours in prayer, meditation, and chanting, I felt blissed out of my mind, filled with a sense of love and peace...and a sense of having felt Amma's personal love and care even though she was not there physically. I was on such a cloud in fact, that it was hard for me to drive back to San Rafael in fact, even with the car's navigational system.

My experience was hard to put into words, but here is my best try: I also felt as if my personal identity, my ego, my personality and name, really mattered very little in the perspective of the grand cosmos. At the same time, I felt a much larger more intangible aspect of myself, my consciousness, my awareness, to be at one with and connected with this much larger cosmic web.

Thousands of people pack into this space to spend time in her presence. Many are profoundly affected, they laugh and cry, release pain and suffering, and realize their divine nature, even if for a few moments.

My friend who invited me had spent time in South India with Amma, touring with her as she and her entourage traveled from city to city helping the sick, needy, and poor. She said it was the experience of a lifetime being in Amma's loving presence.

Another colleague Ginny had spent time working with Amma in Switzerland in the 80's. She said that Amma would hug up to 900 people in one day. After witnessing this, she said that she wanted to hug people for a living too. At the end of her visit, Amma told Ginny she could sleep in her bed. Ginny considers Amma one of the rare few "truly authentic realized beings." If you could see Amma's beauty and know who Amma is, you can see yourself clearly.

Interestingly, that night she overheard Amma hollering at a staff member in Hindi--very uncharacteristic of her. It was then that Ginny realized that being of service to so many people was more than just a bowl of cherries -- it required the strength and fire of "Kali" to sustain.

For more information you can visit Amma.org or the M.A. Center at http://bayarea.amma.org/

Your True Nature: a "Garden of Eden” Discovery

In this day and age many feel disconnected—from ourselves, others, from our world. This sense of disconnection can feel painful, lonely, and isolating. We can act it out with addictions or destructive habits and escapes. This pain hinders us from feeling the happiness and joy that is possible in life.

Fortunately, it is not necessary to go a lifetime with this sense of pain and disconnection. World-renowned Professor of Psychology, Dr. Stanley Krippner offers unique insights about this disconnection and how to fix it. In an upcoming presentation for the Society for the Anthropology he writes:

“The very split from Nature that some Christian theologians claim occurred in the Garden of Eden may lie at the heart of many people’s current sense of separateness from their ecology.

Aldous Huxley witnessed this reunion through his experimental uses of mescaline: “I was seeing what Adam had seen on the morning of creation—the miracle, moment by moment of naked existence.”

Albert Hoffman reported that a mystical nature experience he had had when he was young prefigured his discovery of LSD.

Robert Masters and Jean Houston noted that Nature seems to the subject a whole of which he [or she] is an integral part, and from this characteristic feeling a being a part of the organic ‘body of nature’ the LSD subject readily goes on to identify with nature in its physical particulars and processes.

The shaman is a caretaker of Nature and a negotiator between people and “other-than-human persons,” as Graham Harvey called them in his 2005 “Animist Manifesto.”

Paul Starnets speculated that mushrooms have a hidden agenda to bring humans into communication with other species.

A survey into people’s exceptional experiences with psychedelics found that encountering the “spirit” of the ingested plant or fungus was the most widely reported of a range of 17 “paranormal” and “transpersonal” type experiences occurring with those taking psilocybin-containing mushrooms.

Andy Letcher warned that these experiences largely go ignored or are seen as symptoms of “madness.”

What is more “mad:” communicating with the spirits of Nature or sitting back while Earth’s ecology descends rapidly into the greatest wave of mass extinction in 65 million years?

Given that shamans have most likely been communicating with Nature in this way for thousands of years (Devereux, 2008), it might well be asked what can be gained for huimanity’s relationship with the ecosystem from such a dialogue and, more importantly, how can Nature benefit from this relationship?

This question is of central importance to ecological psychologists who attempt to understand behavioral and experiential processes as they occur within the environmental constraints of animal-environmental systems.

Psychedelic sensibility can play an important role in helping humans devote their efforts to attaining ecological sustainability before the time runs out and Nature’s clock winds down.”

Confessions of a 107.5 Year Old: Meet Him Live as He Shares Health Secrets in His New Book

Scottsdale, AZ. February 17, 2009. Dr. Bernando LaPallo, born August 17, 1901 in Victoria Brazil, will be celebrating his 107 "and a half' birthday, exactly 6 months after his 107th birthday August 17, 2008.

"I know someday I'm going to die, but I make preparations to live," says LaPallo, who recalls sharp details of the Great Depression, WWII, the sinking of the Titanic--even the years when horse and buggy was the main mode of transportation in New York City. He exercises daily, and exudes a youthful spirit of a man of deep spiritual conviction.

His father, an eminent physician in Brazil, instilled clear principles for how to each and how to live; and since his childhood LaPallo has stuck like glue to these wise teachings. In his latest book, Age Less Live More (not available in bookstores), he tells the story of his full and rich life, and uncovers special (and sometimes shocking) dietary and weight management secrets.

His loyal friend, Dr. Stefan Kasian, sought-after speaker and promoter of healthy and prosperous living, arranged a dinner engagement for Bernando and his friends at Mandala Tea Room in Scottsdale, Arizona on February 17, 2009.

Mandala tea room serves fresh, organic, vegan cuisine--Bernando's favorite. He plans to have a few extra copies of his book on hand, and can make available several autographed copies for $20.00 plus shipping and handling if applicable. The public is welcome; his appearance will be from 6:30-8:30 P.M.

"Bernando inspires us all how to live, love, and be happy. I have implemented his dietary regimen and feel better than ever," remarks Stefan who befriended him in 2007 and drives him reguarly to Sunday service at Self-Realization Fellowship.

Many thanks to the restaurant owner, Jennifer, for offering up this venue for this event. Mandala Tea Room, 7027 E. 5th Avenue, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. 480.423.3411

Bernando "BigDaddy" LaPallo has appeared in local newspapers, e.g. Mesa Tribune, celebrating his previous birthdays. He lives with his wife Georgette.

Movie Producer of Water Gives Tour of "Conscious Real Estate"

Sedona, AZ, Back'o'Beyond Road: walking distance from the famous vortex Cathedral Rock, Jim Law gave me a tour of the home he build with his own bare hands.

A landscaper of 17 years, and more recently the movie producer of Water and The Voice, he is now working on a documentary featuring gifted "Indigo children" who have precocious abilities, e.g. uncanny intuitive and healing abilities, remarkable artistic talents. Photographs of these children often contain unusual looking "orbs".

Jim built his home with carefully studied intentions, including the following features:

(1) octagonal shape, not square - which is more in alignment with feng shui principles, which claim that this shape is idea for the flow inside a property,

(2) natural wood, tile, and green construction whenever possible,

(3) built into a hill in harmony with the landscaping to minimize footprint,

(4) a 100' waterfall to enhance the chi energy around the property. This waterfall ends into a fish pond which deer and other animals drink out of,

(5) the sewage drains and lands into a willow tree which absorbs and transforms the nutrients into nutritive mulch.

(6) planting a variety of trees around the property to conserve energy, including deciduous trees on the West exposure, which block hot sun in the summer, and allow the sun's warmth in the winter.

(7) Jim also mentioned having encountered a company that has refined solar technology to the point that a 10x10' square film (which can coat a window or roof) can now yield enough energy to power a house, eliminating the need for a utility bill! This technology he expects to be available within the next year.

(8) He also played a huge beautiful tibetan bowl that was placed against the main central vertical foundational beam of the house. When he played it, it resonated the entire house and was a phenomenal experience that vibrated my entire body.

Gifted 4-Year Old Produces Mysterious "Orb" in Photo

Sedona, AZ: Bliss Cafe, This 4-year old Lianna (sp?)was accompanied by a local Chiropractor who knew the staff. She approached me playing with some jewelry. I noticed how remarkably mature and charismatic she was for her age.
I began taking pictures. What was really amazing is that she was swinging around a piece of jewelry in the second picture, but in the first picture, it appears that she has a glowing orb in her hands. (Note this orb was not visible to the naked eye.)
Could this anomaly be caused by the motion of the jewelry? Could it be caused by the camera shutter speed? Or could it be an orb phenomenon reported in many photos of gifted children. E.g. Doreen Virtue wrote about the Indigo Children in a book several years ago. And interestingly, in the Wizard of Oz, the good witch traveled to counsel the beleaguered Dorothy in a bubble of sorts.
After 9PM, Shauna and Jim Law arrived. They knew several of the people at the event, it is a community where many people know each other. I introduced them to the girl and her grandfather. Turns out that Lianna is an orphan of sorts; her mom passed away and she was adopted by her grandfather. A Harry Potter story if I ever heard one.
Jim then told me about a new film project he is working on featuring the special abilities of Indigo Children...

A Sedona Raw Food Bliss Cafe Weekend Adventure

Sedona, AZ: Accepting an invite to attend a dance party at Raw Bliss Cafe Saturday night, I packed my audiobooks, cellphone, and water jug and hopped in the car for a lovely 2 hour afternoon ride up to the spiritual vortex, Sedona.

First I discovered a source of the Sedona Spring water (a secret) and filled up. The water tasted so sweet. My cells were overjoyed to imbibe something so pure and fresh. I felt grateful to have access to such a pure water supply and at the same time felt concerned for those who do not.

At New Frontiers, the local co-op market, I stocked up on some rare goodies not easily found in Phoenix: a chunk of Himalayan rock salt, and wheat-free sprouted bread. The rock salt pieces can be soaked in water to make a brine that can be added in small quantities to remineralize water, which is often depleted in municipal supplies.

Ran into dear friend Shauna who works in nutrition. I first met her when she was massage therapist at the rawfood rejuvenation center Tree of Life in Patagonia, AZ. She mentioned she is living at the home of Jim Law, landscaper of 17 years, and producer of Water the movie, and The Voice. I invited them to join me at Bliss Cafe dance party after she got off work at 9.

I crossed the street to Bliss Cafe. Live acoustic guitar, a serene atmosphere, and the aromas of healthy gourmet food. All raw, all vegan. No taste deprivation. I ordered soup, a "pizza" made of sprouted buckwheat crust, topped with kalamata olives, a vegan "cheez" sauce, and sprouts. Accompanied by a splendid glass of home-grown Kombucha. (Kombucha contains natural probiotics excellent for supporting beneficial intestinal flora, boosting immune system, etc.)
A friend of a friend, Rachel, and a talented shamanic artist, both introduced themselves to me. After dinner I continued lounging on the corner sofa while the staff prepared the space for the dance.
A little girl approached me and began to play with some jewelry nearby, and that's when things got really interesting...
